Precision Crane Services for Public Art Installation
When the Steel District welcomed "Passage," a nearly 30-foot-tall, 20,000-pound steel sculpture by Colorado artist Christopher Weed, careful planning and precision lifting were essential to safely install one of downtown Sioux Falls' newest landmarks. Positioned at the development's main entrance, the sculpture serves as a symbolic gateway and is a centerpiece of the Steel District's $1 million commitment to public art.
Northwest Corp.'s crane and rigging team worked closely with project partners to safely unload, position, and set the sculpture with accuracy and care. Projects like this require more than lifting capacity—they demand experienced operators, detailed lift planning, and precise execution to protect both the artwork and the surrounding development.
